Cross Overs

The entry part of this move follows the same rhythm as the first four beats of the Balboa Basic (with a 12x4 count pattern, the "x" again indicating a beat where the dancers hold), but the leader opens up a space between himself and the follower in preparation for the repeating part of the move.

The repeating section continues to use the even-odd-even-odd rhythm structure as in other Balboa moves, but here the odd two-beat units differ: they are step-hold rather than hold-step, giving a 567x123x step pattern.

Within this pattern, the dancers' forward steps on beats 7 and 3 are always in roughly the same place; the other steps form a V shape that alternates sides.

The move can be exited during the second half of the repeating sequence (the part with count 1234), either by just doing the Balboa Entry, or by performing a Come Around.
