Skip Up

This move begins in a similar manner to the Side Charleston, but the leader opens up a larger gap between himself and the follower to allow room for the rest of the move.

This sequence is sometimes truncated slightly, stopping the move at beats 5 and 6 of the second eight-beat phrase. The steps on these beats then become a normal rock step, with the leader taking hold of the follower in a closed position.

1. M:BL2L W:BR2R Start from an closed position, with the leader's left hand holding the follower's right hand. The leader takes a step backward on his left foot, turning 90° to his left. The follower takes a step backward on her right foot, turning 90° to her right.
2. M:RR W:RL The leader replaces his weight on his right foot. The follower replaces her weight on her left foot.
3. M:KfL W:KfR The leader performs a kick forward with his left foot. The follower performs a kick forward with her right foot.
4. M:FL W:FR The leader takes a step forward on his left foot. The follower takes a step forward on her right foot.
5. M:KfR W:KfL The leader performs a kick forward with his right foot. The follower performs a kick forward with her left foot.
6. M:TR W:RL The leader closes his right foot to his left foot, kicking forwards with left foot at the same time. The follower replaces her weight on her left foot, kicking forwards with right foot at the same time.
7. M:TL W:RR The leader closes his left foot to his right foot, kicking forwards with right foot at the same time. The follower replaces her weight on her right foot, kicking forwards with left foot at the same time.
8. M:TR W:RL The leader closes his right foot to his left foot, kicking forwards with left foot at the same time. The follower replaces her weight on her left foot, kicking forwards with right foot at the same time. The leader also opens a slight gap between the partners.
1. M:XL1R W:XR1L The leader takes a step with his left foot across and in front of his other foot, turning slightly to his right. The follower takes a step with her right foot across and in front of her other foot, turning slightly to her left.
2. M:SlBL1L W:SlBR1R The leader slides along the floor backward on his left foot, turning slightly to his left, lifting right knee. The follower slides along the floor backward on her right foot, turning slightly to her right, lifting left knee.
3. M:BR W:BL The leader takes a step backward on his right foot. The follower takes a step backward on her left foot.
4. M:KfL W:KfR The leader performs a kick forward with his left foot. The follower performs a kick forward with her right foot.
5. M:BL W:BR The leader takes a step backward on his left foot. The follower takes a step backward on her right foot.
6. M:RR W:RL The leader replaces his weight on his right foot. The follower replaces her weight on her left foot.
7. M:XL2R W:XR2L The leader takes a step with his left foot across and in front of his other foot, turning 90° to his right. The follower takes a step with her right foot across and in front of her other foot, turning 90° to her left.
8. B:0B Both the leader and the follower take three beats to rotate to face each other, uncrossing then re-crossing their feet; the leader turns right, the follower turns left.
