the last straw.

In July of 2000, the News of the World decided to publish the names and addresses of people on the national sex offender's register. As anyone with half a brain could predict, given the unique hysteria associated to child sex offences in Britain, this led to vigilante attacks on anyone who even slightly resembled the offenders—including in one case, a paediatrician. Of course, the government of the time did absolutely nothing about this; Tony Blair has less spine than a jellyfish when it comes to an issue which might affect his popularity. So I had a suggestion for the News of the World, to print one more name and address of a particular sex offender on the front page: Jack Straw's brother William. Amusing, no? (This is also amusing).
